The Gift of Rest: A Winter Solstice Yoga Retreat

Saturday 19th December

2-4.30pm

The Hall, St Paul’s Church, Winchester, SO22 5AB.

An afternoon of deep rest, reflection, and Solstice stillness

Now that autumn is well and truly settling in, it feels like the time of year to begin embracing cosy evenings, putting the heating on and gradually shifting into a different pace.

Our attention naturally starts to turn towards the final chapter of the year, and this feels like the perfect time to consider how we might look after ourselves through the winter months. As nature prepares for a quieter season, perhaps we too can find moments to slow down, soften and find a gentler rhythm.

So, I’d love to invite you to join me for a very special Winter Solstice Yoga Retreat — a little space to pause, breathe and mark this special moment in the year.

Think of this as a little gift to yourself — a precious afternoon set aside to step away from the busyness of December and simply be. A nourishing afternoon created to help you slow down, soften and settle into the season.

Sink into a warm embrace of cosy blankets, soft bolsters and fluffy pillows. Let yourself be held in deeply restful Restorative Yoga, breathe deeply, soften your body and quieten your mind. Then surrender into a deeply soothing Yoga Nidra, allowing yourself to drift into a state of profound rest — with a seasonal treat and warming drink to enjoy along the way.

No striving.
No achieving.
Nothing to organise.
Just time to receive.

And this will be more than an extended yoga class.

Woven through the afternoon will be a special Winter Solstice pause — a moment to reflect on the year that has passed and what you’d like to make space for as we move towards the returning light.

Think of it as a chance to step out of the Christmas rush.

To put the lists and social whirl aside.
To breathe.
To rest.
To take stock.

And to give yourself some uninterrupted time and space at this beautiful turning.

No resolutions. Just a little time to pause, reflect and receive.

Perhaps this is the gift you’ve been longing to give yourself.

Or perhaps you know someone who could really use a little time, space and stillness of their own. You’re very welcome to bring a friend along and share the experience together. No yoga experience is needed.

Whether you’re feeling the intensity of the festive preparations, craving some precious time for yourself, or simply want to revel in the peace of a quiet winter afternoon, come and indulge in the rarest of gifts: the gift of a little less doing and a little more being.

Come as you are.
Leave the festive rush at the door.
Wrap yourself in warmth, stillness and rest.
